As we approach the World Convention, NA World Services sends a reminder of the Unity Day Meeting. This is the closing meeting of WCNA-37. This meeting begins at 11:30 am Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, September 2. The Unity Day Meeting brings together NA members throughout the fellowship. This includes institutionalized members in other countries.
In case you’ve forgotten, Orlando hosts this year’s World Convention of NA. That’s almost as close as your home group. But if you can’t attend, you can still participate. NAWS provides a free audio stream of the closing speaker. Therefore, anyone with an Internet connection or telephone can connect with members in attendance in Orlando.
Later this summer, NAWS will send instructions on how to connect to the Unity Day Meeting. NAWS offers a webinar platform to connect via Internet and a toll free number to dial in by phone. And it’s free, which is always in the budget.
Unity Day Meeting Inside the Walls
More than 100 institutions connected to the Unity Day Meeting in recent years. So apparently, prison administrators find it worthwhile for the inmates in recovery. Most notably, an inmate wrote to Reaching Out, NA’s quarterly publication for inmates and for those who carry the message to institutions.
This inmate wrote: “The NA World Convention is an event that brings addicts together. The phone link allows us to feel the magic of the group worldwide! We even received letters from people who attended WCNA saying they heard our group being recognized. When our name was announced and we could hear everybody cheer and clap in the convention center, I felt strongly that I was part of something much bigger than myself.”
We can participate in WCNA’s closing meeting in various ways. For example, you might set this up for your home group, take it into an institution or listen at home. If you need more information, contact NA World Services:
